Getting to the Conference
Flying
Sacramento International Airport is the closest airport. There is no public transportation available to the sanctuary, as we are in a rural region of the state. Paid shuttles are available from the airport, at a cost of around $80/person.
Train
Amtrak's Capital Corridor services Auburn, California, a 30 minute drive from Animal Place's Grass Valley sanctuary. (Train/Bus schedule) There is NO public transportation from Auburn to Grass Valley.
Animal Place offers a pick-up Friday and drop-off Sunday for SIX campers or Guest House (no exceptions) registrants attending the whole weekend. We CANNOT accommodate anyone wishing to deviate from the schedule below. Please adhere to Amtrak's luggage policies. You can sign up for Animal Place's shuttle service service when you register for the conference.
Friday, June 2 pick-up: 6:30 pm (Train 536, no bus connection)
Sunday, June 4 drop-off: 4:50 pm (leave sanctuary at 4:00 pm): Bus 3599 connects to Train 749 in Sacramento (look at schedule thoroughly)

If you are unfamiliar with the area, we strongly discourage you from relying solely on GPS to get here. Please look at the directions below, particularly from Sacramento/Bay Area, and make sure your GPS directions match.

49-N (Grass Valley exit), turn left to get into 49-N ~10-11 miles
Lt on Wolf Road ~2 miles (if you go 2.5 miles, you’ve gone too far)
Rt on Duggans Road - dead ends
Lt on McCourtney/Lime Kiln ~6-7 miles
IGNORE ALL OTHER MCCOURTNEY SIGNS, DO NOT TURN OFF THIS ROAD - JUST FOLLOW IT UNTIL YOU GET TO THE SANCTUARY.
The sanctuary will be on your left. It is the next large property after the school zone of Clear Creek Elementary.
You will see a big red sign.
From Nevada City
Take Hwy 20-W/49-S
Exit Mill Street, Turn Right, follow directions below
From Downtown Grass Valley
Take Mill Street south
Rt on McCourtney ~6.6 miles
The sanctuary will be on your right. Look for the bright red sign.
If you pass Clear Creek School, you’ve gone too far.
From Penn Valley/Rough and Ready
Take Indian Springs Road to McCourtney, turn right. Go about 3 miles.
The sanctuary will be on your right. Look for the bright red sign.
